  Into The Groove

A new 3D version of the Tim Burton classic The Nightmare Before Christmas will arrive just in time for Halloween. In addition, Burton has tapped several rockers to record a soundtrack for the movie. Marilyn Manson turns up with “This Is Halloween,” and there are also cuts from She Wants Revenge, Fall Out Boy and Fiona Apple. Each song is a cover of Danny Elfman's original work from the movie. Meanwhile, Manson will perform his spooky song on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Oct. 31.

But can they sing? Nicole Kidman and Heath Ledger are teaming up on record. The two Aussie actors recorded a cover of Prince's “Kiss” for the soundtrack to the upcoming film Happy Feet. Kidman and Ledger also voice characters in the film.

Speaking of famous voices, rock legend David Bowie will take a dive next year—underwater—as he joins the cast of the popular cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants for a guest appearance. Bowie will handle the voice of a character called Lord Royal Highness on the series next year. "It's happened. At last. I've hit the Holy Grail of animation gigs," Bowie said on his Web site. It was his 6-year-old daughter, who's a huge fan of the show, that came up with the idea.

Last issue we mentioned the romance and impending wedding between Eddie Murphy and Mel "Scary Spice" B. Well, now it looks like Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton will be walking down the altar soon, too, and there are rumors about a Spice Girls reunion CD and tour in the works, as a meeting was organized by Mel B in the UK this month. Will Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham join in, though? She claimed recently that she will never sing again, and wants to further her career in fashion instead. The question is—did she ever really “sing” before?

In other reunion news, George Michael (fresh off yet another drug-hazed traffic stop in London) has actually set up a Wham! one-off reunion concert at UK's Wembley Arena over Christmas, with fellow ‘80s has-beens Pepsi & Shirlie on backing vocals.

Christina Aguilera is poised to make her acting debut as she's being considered to play ‘50s pin-up vixen Jeanne Carmen in a biopic of her life. However, Christina faces stiff competition from a host of established Hollywood actresses, including Catherine Zeta-Jones and Scarlett Johansson, who are also vying for the role.

Finally, let's all applaud Barbra Streisand for mocking Prezidunce Bush on her current tour, and for telling that NYC heckler to “Shut the f*ck up!” No one upstages La Streisand, especially in her hometown. You go, Babs!
