"Well,
I can't be great in every room!"
—Cynthia McFadden reportedly made this statement
when her benefactress, Katharine Hepburn, spruced up a floral
arrangement the newswoman placed in the living room. Gee,
which room would have been more suitable for Cyndi's talents?
Did Kate have a TV studio upstairs? Perhaps off the bedroom?
Two new
books about Katharine Hepburn are causing quite a stir. The
first is by Eileen Considine-Meara, the daughter of Kate's
long-time housekeeper. Although this book provides a tantalizing
glimpse into the relationship between the actress and television
reporter Cynthia McFadden, a far more titillating read is
Kate: The Woman Who Was Hepburn by William J. Mann (who,
by the by, is one of the sexiest men I've ever met). Mann
refutes the rumor that McFadden could be Hepburn's child
by Spencer Tracy and instead reports that Katharine was in
love with Cyndi. The book also details both Hepburn's and
Tracy's same-sex encounters in vivid detail—in the
case of Spencer, the source is a male hooker who had a first-hand
encounter with the actor!
I was recently with former American Idol contestant Frenchie
Davis at The Factory in West Hollywood. I can't tell you
how excited the at-capacity audience was to see Miss Diva
in action, and she didn't disappoint. With a powerful voice
that is ideally suited for both Broadway and pop, she segued
through a number of covers to an unprepared a cappella version
of "Seasons of Love" from Rent (Frenchie is still
in the Broadway company of the hit musical). However, the
highlight of the night was a phenomenal rendition of "And
I Am Telling You" from Dreamgirls, which you can watch
at www.billymasters.com.
I caught the opening night of Beehive at the El Portal Theatre
in North Hollywood, and I'm happy to report that LaToya London
is exceptional. Her voice is as luscious as ever, and her
performance displays great poise, stage presence, and comedic
timing—she comes close to stealing the show with a
dead-on parody of Diana Ross and the Supremes. No one laughed
more than one chick in the audience—Jennifer Hudson,
who plays Effie in the upcoming film version of Dreamgirls.
Also on hand were Lea Thompson, Joanne Worley, Karen Morrow,
Sara Ramirez, and, of course, sexy music director Jim Vukovich.
The production closes on Oct. 8, so get your tix now at www.elportaltheatre.com.
In other Idol news, Fantasia Barrino is not having a good
week. Kim Green has proclaimed that she was Fantasia's ghostwriter
(which tells you a thing or two about any reality star with
a book coming out). Kim says she received $45,000 for writing
the book, but never planned to go public. She told the publishers, "I
don't want credit, but I don't want [Fantasia] to look dumb,
and I think, strategically, it's not going to be wise for
her to pretend to have written this book." Particularly
since she's admitted that she can't read! Kim should count
her blessings—Fantasia's father filed a suit against
the publishers of the "autobiography" over "untruths
about the family."
This past spring, I was honored that All Worlds Video asked
me to appear in Fucking with the Stars. At last, my physique
and sexual prowess would be immortalized on film. I would
become a legendary sex performer...kinda like Jeff Stryker,
Paris Hilton and Seka. But my dreams were dashed when I realized
I was hired to be a celebrity judge alongside Chi Chi LaRue
and Bruce Vilanch. Starry company, indeed. Well, the film
is out, I've seen it, and it's a hoot and a half. Let me
nip one concern in the bud: Those of you watching porn for
sexual titillation can avoid watching the judges altogether—isn't
that nice? I must say that we all had such a great time on
the set, it was truly a historic and hysterical production.
I made one suggestion—I begged director Coco LaChine
to include a blooper reel, and happily, she agreed. I recommend
going directly to the extras and laughing along with us.
You can get the flick at www.allworldsvideo.com.
Hot off my (official) porn debut comes confirmation that
I will be a celebrity judge for the upcoming Mr. Gay Competition
in Palm Springs. My Fucking cohort Bruce Vilanch wears a
different hat for this event—he'll be the host for
both the U.S. finals on Oct. 27 and the international competition
on Oct. 28. I, on the other hand, am there in an official
capacity only for the U.S. finals, which means the sex will
be running rampant at the after-party (or even earlier with
the foreign boys)! You can get more information at www.mrgaycompetition.com.
Speaking of hot foreigners, our first "Ask Billy" question
comes from Randall in London: "Have you heard of Philip
Olivier? He's a stunning actor on the U.K. show Hollyoaks.
He always shows up at gay events here in London, so I was
wondering if you knew anything about his personal life. You'd
love him—and I bet your fans would, too."
I have indeed heard of Philip, and he is absolutely gorgeous.
In fact, the 26-year-old heartthrob has hosted the Mr. Gay
U.K. pageant! Although he's primarily known as the U.K. equivalent
of a soap star, last year, this sexy actor appeared in The
Games, which was kinda like Battle of the Network Stars.
That was when folks realized what an incredible physique
Phil has. Olivier immediately became a gay fave and started
courting that audience. He released a calendar filled with
scantily-clad photos and showed up at Gay Pride events. But
that's not where it ended—he can currently be seen
on the U.K. soap Hollyoaks: In The City playing a sexually
confused high-school teacher who becomes "involved" with
his 16-year-old out-and-proud student. What's nice about
Olivier is that with all of the attention from the gay community,
he hasn't ever issued one of those "I'm not gay, but
friends of mine are and that's cool" statements (although
he does appear to be straight). Not only do we have some
sizzling snaps of him, we also have a video that shows off
every inch of Phil. He's so hot you'd enjoy him, with or
without a penis clip. But why not watch it at www.billymasters.com?
A doctor in Washington, D.C., asks: "How old is Jeff
Stryker now? Seems like he's been in porn forever."
Stryker is, understandably, cagey when it comes to the date
of his birth. www.imdb.com lists him as being born on Aug.
21, 1962, which would make him 44. Since this site has details
about moi that are slightly inaccurate, let's just say that
Jeff is in his mid-forties. I do know that Stryker was discovered
by gay porn titan John Travis in 1986, which would mean Jeffy
was 24 at the time. That sounds about right.
Could it be that I had an encounter with several male Idol
contestants? I planned on sharing this anecdote that would
have not only "outed" these boys, but left my readers
wondering if any heterosexual male has ever tried out for
American Idol. But since these former finalists allegedly
plan to come out on their own, I won't bother. One of them
asked me how to prepare for questions about his sexuality.
I suggested that he prepare for a more likely question: "And
who exactly are you?"
When I'm paid by a gay porn company to keep my clothes on,
it's definitely time for me to hit the gym and end yet another
column. Do check out www.billymasters.com for the best gossip
on the Web. And send questions to billy@billymasters.com,
which I will answer before Fantasia finishes reading her
first book. Until next time, remember, one man's filth is
another man's bible.
