Into the Groove

Andy Bell, Yo La Tengo, Margaret Cho, Kelly Osbourne, Nina Hagen, Alan Cumming, and John Cameron Mitchell will take part in Wedrock, a benefit concert for the Freedom To Marry Coalition, to protest the recent veto on marriage equality by our cowardly governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The concert happens at Avalon in Hollywood Nov. 7, and I'll also be DJing the event ... Boy George, thought to be clean and sober, was just arrested on suspicion of drug possession and filing a bogus police report. Police claim he called 911 from his Little Italy, NYC, residence around 3 a.m. last week and reported a burglary. The cops arrived and George then staggered about his apartment apparently in "a drugged stupor." After a quick search, they discovered an 8-ball of cocaine next to a computer, with George claiming to not know "how it got there." Stay tuned ... Word has it that a Britney Spears sex tape might be making the rounds, as reports that an insider in the Spears camp has "threatened" to release the video, which was duplicated from Britney and hubby Kevin Federline's private collection. Meanwhile, Britney just yanked her jewel-encrusted bra off of eBay ... The White Stripes will be the first musical performers on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart. Stewart joked in a statement, "We've never had a musical performance on the show before -- mainly because we were holding out for a reunited Spandau Ballet. This will have to suffice." The duo's appearance is scheduled for Dec. 1 ... Rhino Records and Club Planet have teamed up to drop a new two-CD compilation celebrating the best house and party music from the '60s to the '90s. DJs Riz and Sizzahandz remixed the tracks, which include hits from Bananarama, Tom Tom Club, House Of Pain, Yaz, Soft Cell, Chic, Aretha Franklin, Rick James, Robin S. and lots more. Look for the Clubplanet Party Mix in stores Oct. 25 ... If you're in London next year, be on the lookout for a statue of Kylie Minogue, which is being planned for London's gay hood on Old Compton Street. She'll be depicted lying over an arch ... And finally, what's up with David LaChapelle? First Madonna scrapped working with him on her new music video, and now Jessica and Ashlee Simpson apparently dissed the in-demand photographer by refusing to pose for him for a Rolling Stone cover shoot, claiming his concept went against Jessica's "morals." Ah, yes -- but bumping and grinding in wet Daisy Dukes with your tits hanging out while you wash a car is "moralistic"? Oh please...
